My mindfulness and healthing thinking videos:

Thought-loop breaker

This is a video to help people who get stuck in thought loops (known as perseveration), or other negative/unhelpful thinking patterns. Its mainly aimed at people with autism or ADHD, but may be useful for people with OCD or who suffer from anxiety.

Thought loops can be hard to stop, and can last a while - usually suddenly stopping by itself, or an external event (noise, person getting your attention, etc). The video is 15 minutes long with a random ding every 10-20 seconds which should refocus attention away from thoughts, similar to mindfulness. Its random to avoid being predictable, so each one will be a surprise to your brain. Its best to adjust the volume so that its loud enough to interrupt thoughts, but not too loud as to be annoying.

It may be difficult to start this video once a thought loop has started, because you may not be able to think about reaching for this video - its best to used when trying to focus on a task that may get interrupted by thoughts, or when trying to relax so that you get a break from troubling thoughts. You probably wouldn't want to use it when you need to be focused on thinking about something important.

Also, whilst listening to the dings, enjoy the view in the video as a mindful experience or you could think positive things to feel better after a spell of negative ones.

15 minutes now and then in your day should be enough to feel better.

Its just a self-help tool, I'm not a scientist or expert, but its based on distraction advice I have read for thought loops and troubling thoughts as I suffer from these. There isn't much out there to help, most advice is to get someone else to help snap you out of it, but that isn't always possible.

I hope it helps others, though it may not work for everyone.

Looking up at an oak tree mindfully

This a short 3 mins mindfulness moment.

For best effect, keep eyes scanning over from one area to another, or one leaf to another so that you are less able to have thoughts during the video. Repeat if interrupted by thoughts or other events. Important not to judge the video or anything else during this period - just noticing the calm movement, and sounds (including man made like traffic - just sounds to notice).
